Things are trending back for McCain. His numbers are rising and Obama’s are dropping on a daily basis. There seems to be a direct correlation between this and McCain talking about the economy
With four days left in the U.S. presidential campaign, Republican John McCain is mounting a furious last minute bid to overtake Democrat Barack Obama in the polls.McCain is getting help from California Governor Arnold Scharzenegger and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.
McCain’s use of Joe the plumber, combined with the tax issue, is working!
Much of Obama’s rise this week has been due to his domination of the paid advertising. With his coffers swollen by $150 million raised in September, he can buy any available advertising time. But McCain has considerable resources at his disposal as well.
Obama sent shock waves through political circles when he announced on Monday that he had amassed $150 million in campaign contributions in September, giving him upwards of $600 million for his campaign.
While his fundraising makes a mockery of McCain’s paltry $100 million in taxpayer funded campaign money, the real advantage to Obama in the election is not likely to be decisive.
Obama is, of course, still the front-runner. But McCain is closing hard as the race enters its second to last week.
If Obama ultimately wins, it will have a lot more to do with the Dow Jones than with his level of campaign funding. Even if we assume his October funding brings him to even more dizzying heights, the realities of modern politics will limit the advantage that will accrue to his campaign.
As Obama lengthens his lead, the Republicans are praying that the election becomes close enough for the Democrats not to steal. But meanwhile, ACORN, the radical community group, is becoming an embarrassment for Obama.
It is not as if its shenanigans are likely to tip the result, with the Democrats so far ahead. But as it is raided by the FBI in state after state (11 so far), it is becoming identified as the electoral equivalent of Greenpeace, extremists who will stop at nothing to get their way.
Unilaterally, John McCain agreed to disarm himself by refusing to use perhaps his most potent weapon in exposing Barack Obama: the Democrats’ relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
The McCain campaign and, at its direction, the Republican Party, have banned use of footage of Rev. Wright from their campaign commercials. Perhaps for fear of being accused of racism, they are not bringing up the single most compromising association in Obama’s past — his close liaison with Wright.
But it does not matter that Wright is black, white, or brown . . . or purple. What matters is that he spews hatred of the United States and that Obama was an active participant in his church.
Or are we supposed to believe that Obama regularly attended church with Wright for two decades, chose the reverend to baptize his children and officiate at his wedding, titled his book “Audacity of Hope” after hearing a sermon, but did not know of his anti-American views?
Nonsense.
The only time the issue has been used was during the Democratic primary when Obama’s ties to Wright were first revealed and the reverend’s horrific anti-American sermons were aired on television. Even then, Obama tried to distance himself from Wright in the mildest of possible terms, only denouncing him more sternly after the relationship had begun to sap his standing in the polls.
Fortunately, one independent expenditure group — NationalRepublicanTrust.com — has the courage to bring the truth about Wright to the attention of the American people.
National RepublicanTrust.com has prepared a hard-hitting advertisement that features some of Wright’s worst rantings and explains the intimate relationship over 20 years between the preacher and the politician.
National RepublicanTrust.com, of course, is funded by individual donations, so their financial resources are limited.
As we enter the final week, this election is not yet over.
Obama’s lead collapsing from 12 points on Thursday of last week to just 5 points over this past weekend. Other polls have Obama’s lead in the 5-7 point range, little enough ground to close in six more days. Only surveys that have quotas for large number of Democratic participants show Obama’s lead to be in double digits.
But McCain will not win with one hand tied behind his back. So now is the time for all good Republicans to come to the aid of their party and run the ads that should be run to defeat Barack Obama.
10 Reasons Why McCain Might Win
1) One poll has undecided voters at 14 percent on the last weekend, which means most of them probably really aren’t undecided, that they are either going to stay home or vote preponderantly for McCain and pull McCain across the finish line.
2) Most pollsters are claiming the electorate this year is six to nine points more Democratic than it is Republican. That would be an unprecedented shift from four years ago, when the electorate was evenly divided, 37-37, Republican and Democratic, and a huge shift from two years ago, when it was 37-33 Democratic. A shift of this size didn’t even happen after Watergate.
3) Obama frequently outpolled his final result in primaries, which might have many causes but might also indicate that he has difficulty closing the sale.
4) The argument in the past two weeks has shifted, such that many undecided voters who are now paying attention are hearing about Obama’s redistributionist tendencies at exactly the right moment for McCain.
5) The tightening in several daily tracking polls indicates a modest surge on McCain’s part that could continue through the weekend until election day. If he is behind by three or four points right now, a slow and steady move upward could push him past the finish line in first place.
6) In terms of the electoral map, the energy and focus McCain is directing at Pennsylvania could pay huge dividends if he pulls it off. If he prevails there, it might follow that the message will work in Ohio too. And if he wins Pennsylvania and Ohio, he will probably win even if he loses Virginia and Colorado.
7) Early voting numbers are not oceanic by any means, which may indicate the degree of enthusiasm for Obama among new voters is not something new but something entirely of a par with past candidates, like John Kerry. And they show more strength on the Republican side than most people expected.
8) What happened with the Joe the Plumber story is that Obama has now been effectively outed as a liberal, not a moderate; and because liberalism is still less popular than conservatism, that’s not the best place for Obama to be.
9) The fire lit under Obama’s young supporters in the winter was largely due to Iraq and his opposition to the war. The stunning decline in violence and the departure of Iraq from the front page has put out the fire, to the extent that, like the young woman who made a sexy video calling herself Obama Girl and then didn’t vote in the New York primary because she went to get a manicure, they might not want to stand on line on Tuesday.
10) Hispanic voters, who are always underpolled, know and appreciate McCain from his stance on immigration and will vote for him in larger numbers than anyone anticipates.
There you have it. It’s admittedly not the strongest case, and the idea that McCain will win on Tuesday is hard to square with the fact there isn’t a single poll that has him in the lead five days out. But unexpected things do happen in politics every election.

John McCain haven’t gotten a fair shake from the media against Barack Obama. For whatever reason, the media are portraying Barack Obama as a better choice for president than John McCain.
Schwarzenegger stole the show in Ohio, Schwarzenegger ridiculed Barack Obama and delighted a crowd of several thousands with some biting barbs about Obama’s policies and physique.
Obama spent a whopping 21 million dollars on TV ads between October 21 and 28, while John McCain’s campaign spent close to 7.5 million dollars, the University of Wisconsin Advertising Project said.
Agree with # 10 reason Hispanic voters, appreciate McCain from his stance on immigration and will vote for him in larger numbers than anyone anticipates.
Latino votes has a powerful impact on this election.
Yes Susan, Arnold said he left Europe 4 decades ago because of SOCIALISM.
Don’t count out Mc Cain yet.Obama is ahead in Media poll but it ain’t over until people cast their votes.
California will turn to red states and Obama will lose.

Obama aunt from Kenya living in US illegally
WASHINGTON – Barack Obama’s aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago.
The Associated Press has learned 56-year-old Zeituni Onyango, who was referred to as “Aunti Zeituni” in Obama’s memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a US immigration judge who denied her asylum request.
A person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday about Obama’s aunt. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango’s case.
Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one of them a federal law enforcment official. AP
I made up my mind. I vote for Mc Cain and Palin.
SchwarzeNIGGER kasi…
There is a valid question about Obama’s citizenship. Some in his family say he was born in KENYA. OBAMA REFUSES TO PRODUCE HIS ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE. A supposed Hawaii birth certificate was posted on the internet, but document experts say that one cannot verify the authenticity of an internet document. Several lawsuits have been filed over this. A court that dismissed one such lawsuit did it on technical grounds WITHOUT requiring Obama to show his birth certificate! There are valid questions about Obama’s citizenship that he has failed to resolve.
Obama has said more than one time that he wants to redistribute wealth. If Obama Hood’s, proposed policies are enacted he will be the most notorious enabler in history. Welfare is a failure, from the New Deal to present the US is seeing the 5th and 6th generations of welfare families. Anyone who thinks that Bill Gates, or Warren Buffett are going to be coughing anything up is a chump. That means you will be driving your car longer, paying higher taxes (less pay in your pocket each month) so others can live a life as parasites feeding off you. Yea vote for Obama, and see the standard of living you have worked so hard for fall, Comrades.
I explained to my little children, what socialism would be like in an Obama adminstration. I said after you get back from trick and treating Thursday night Obama will take half of your candy and give it to the kids next door who were to lazy to go trick & treating!! She understood perfectly. This describes all the Obama lemmings out there. They all want the free candy!!
The idea of a socialized obamanation is the frightening one.We the people DO NOT need him. Who we need is the non political, Gov.Palin and McCain to clean up the Country as our ForeFathers created it! A loving Country formed by the people and for the people! Government serves US not us serving big government. Under Obama he will be in charge of everything,we will have no money we will have no rights we will become the Union States of the Socialists republic, the new USSR! We need to put God back into our Country! God Bless Palin and McCain and God Bless America!

“The Bradley effect theorizes that the inaccurate polls were skewed by the phenomenon of social desirability bias. Specifically, some white voters give inaccurate polling responses for fear that, by stating their true preference, they will open themselves to criticism of r@cial motivation.”

Now, try the impossible: stop embarassing yourself . . . Knucklehead.
Redistribution of Wealth?

Kaya nga ayaw man o gusto nila, suportado nila si Obama at Democrats.
Obama doesn’t know that his auntie is illegal alien.Pathetic.
His Dad’s half-sister is living on welfare in public housing. His own half-brother is living in a shack in Kenya eking out a living on about $1/day. And between 2000 and 2004, Obama’s tax returns showed he contributed less than 1% of his income to charity.
He’s living comfort eagle while his own family members scrape by. He and the MSM want the world to know how committed he is to the plight of the poor. But why should we believe he cares about dirt poor strangers when he doesn’t even care about dirt poor relatives.
“I am my brothers keeper”
That quote should haunt Obama for years
Wonder what goes missing after these events, what with all the law breaking types that I am sure are invited as the Obama’s just “didn’t know” the guests were dining just yesterday at San Quentin.
He doesn’t know Ayers
He doesn’t know Khalidi
He doesn’t know Fannie & Freddie
He doesn’t know Acorn
What does he know?
She attended Obama’s swearing-in to the U.S. Senate in 2004, but campaign officials said Obama provided no assistance in getting her a tourist visa and doesn’t know the details of her stay. The campaign said he last heard from her about two years ago when she called saying she was in Boston, but he did not see her there.
I know if I had an elderly aunt from another nation living in America, I’d know every single thing about her legal status. Hell, I’d go to great lengths making sure she’s here legally and I’d see to it that she’s not living on the public dollar, that she’s eating well and taken care of properly. But, I’m not a narcissistic fucker who wants to be the next president.
English iyan!
Here is a sampling of how the world voted (the first number is Obama, the second is McCain). China: Obama 83% — McCain 17%, India: 87% — 13%, Pakistan: 81% — 19%, Philippines: 88% — 12%, Indonesia: 96% — 4% , Thailand: 86% — 14%, Australia: 89% —11%, Brazil: 81% — 19%, Mexico: 86% — 14%, Canada: 89% — 11%, South Africa: 88% — 12%, Sudan: 47% — 53%, Egypt: 91% — 9%, Georgia: 48% — 53%, France: 91% — 9%, Germany: 90% – 10%, Syria: 100% — 0%, Iraq: 23% — 77%, Iran: 84% — 16%, and Afghanistan: 85% — 15%.
Regardless if the country is a traditional US ally or foe, Obama is the preferred next US president. Not only that, Obama is preferred in lopsided numbers that often exceed an 80 ‑ 20 ratio. If the US is to maintain their leader position in the world, the American voters will do well to listen to the sentiments of the peoples of the world.
That number is impressive artsee, but the people in those countries you mentioned DO NOT VOTE for US president.Hahahaha!
What happen to your tag-team partner artse? Why they are so quiet,Dinapinoy and Trueblue.
To all of you who think Barack Obama will be a good president, I turn you to the Carter administration. He promised change from the corruption of the Nixon presidency and all he did was raise our taxes, raise unemployment, watch as interest rates hit double digits, and allow national spending to go through the roof. Do we really want four more years of that?
Obama is a Left wing hater. The skeletons in his closet are:A racist america hater preacher,a home grown terrorist,a felon real estate buddy and neighbor,a corrupt Acorn contributor, and the list keeps going on.Oh,we can’t forget his hater male- looking wife,Michele.Overall, Obama should be very scary to ALL Americans. Isn’t anyone seeing how he will cop out in the future by blaming EVERYTHING on Bush? People are you not seeing the red flags here? Bush was bad but Obama will be much worse. CHECK MATE !!!!
Come June 2009, there will be two words that most Americans will hate: Change and Obama. For all of the talk of changing America for the better, with a Democrat Congress in control, Obama will have the freedom to do as he pleases. However, while the unemployment rate soars to 9%, the stock market bombs to the level of 1980 and interest rates go to 15%, the American public will learn that they have been a sold a bill of goods that the American economy will not be able to provide.
Mc Cain will win this election.
Ano man sabihin niyo, si Obama ang mananalo. Sorry mga pards. Better luck next time.
With even some Republicans using the word “miracle” to characterize the prospect of a victory by GOP candidate John McCain, given his lagging poll numbers, the shock of an Obama loss would be almost incalculable for many blacks. So people are protecting themselves.
History is in the making this election..
..if Obama wins..first black
..if McCain wins inspite of the odds..prayers do work and miracles do happen.. Fr. Corapi of ETWN asked for prayers to the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary and Our Lady of Victories to grant victory to all Prolife Candidates in this election. The souls of the innocent babies aborted will shout to high heavens and to all those pro choice people..kung walang abortion buhay sana kami and makakaboto din gaya ninyo..kung walang abortion ..anong ligaya sana namin..to serve God and be created in His image…many are praying for a miracle and this will happen..more things are wrought by prayers than this world dream of..ang sabi nga..
Ever used miracle gro?..that is what prayers are..for miracles to grow..
kung sa bagay maraming pera si Obama..sino sino ba ang nag contribute? by buying tv time with all the money they have,,,was that his idea of wealth distribution? I serve in the food pantry of our church sino ang mga pumipila sa pagkuha? ang mga kalahi niya who comes to the pantry in cars and Filipinos who have never worked here but now receives SSI thus could get a bag full of groceries which we parishioners donated..and mind you some are not even parishioners…they simply take advantage of the opportunity to receive welfare..a program for the needy or the greedy..bahala na ang Dios sa kanila..
Joke only.
Cain ang maging US president. Of course ako ay nangangarap lamang but it is not a remote possibility.
kung wala kang cash sa bulsa may mga doctors who will refuse to treat you even if you came from the Emergency Room. This happened to me a week ago..I went to the emergency room of Christ (?) Hospital for a nose bleed..and the doctor at the ER where I spent the night made an appointed for me to see an EENT specialist first thing in the morning. The office was just in the next bldg. and I walked over.. the doctor did not want to treat me because he does not belong to the HMO in my insurance..I had no cash with me..not properly dressed for a cold morning so I offered to use my Amex..NO they don’t accept credit card…I was so upset and I could feel heaviness in
my head, tightneaa in my left side and started to slur…these to me are signs of a stroke. I have had three strokes so I walked back to the ER and true indeed I had TIA…was admitted and was on the eight day of stay was released …utay utay ang mag lab test sa akin…mahirap ang mahirap sa America..like AIG where I used to work my friends bailed me out..pinautang ako, dinalhan ng damit..ganoon pala ang walang kuarta..
There’s so many viewers on this post.I think many US voters still undecided.
Thank you all for commenting.I appreciate your inputs. It doesn’t matter if you are for Obama or Mc Cain.We are all free to express our own opinion and exercise our right to vote.

One of the reasons that Barack Obama could well lose on Tuesday is because voters are beginning to realize that his policies will tank the economy and the markets. The stock market looks forward, not backward, and there is a direct correlation between the declining Dow and the increasing poll numbers for Barack Obama. According to the June Gallop Poll, by a margin of 87 to 13, Americans care more about improving the economy than they do about redistributing wealth.
According to his rhetoric, Barack Obama is helping working Americans. In fact, John McCain offers bigger tax breaks to the working class than Barack Obama. (The only reason you do not know this is because you have not looked at the fact that no one earning under $50,000 will pay any tax under John McCain and, on the famous “Obama Taxometer”, the untruthful Obama campaign does not include the $5,000 health care tax credit that John McCain in giving to every American). Moreover, almost 75% of Americans making $100,000 have some capital gains. As the value of their investments turns negative they will suffer badly, even if Barack Obama does not raise their taxes. A declining economy is bad for everyone.
As he exploits the current widespread economic uncertainty in the nation and blames the richest, Barack Obama not only ignites an insidious class war, but also ignores the inconvenient fact that America’s top earners have paid double in taxes since the reduction of their tax rates under George Bush. Namely, in 2003 the richest Americans paid $136 billion in taxes and after the tax cut in 2006 they paid $274 billion. Times of economic uncertainty are exactly when our government needs to cling to business and the generators of wealth and jobs, not use them as scapegoats.
John McCain may not be the most eloquent or sexiest candidate in this race, but he is the candidate who will best serve this nation for the next four years. He is reducing taxes for all Americans further than Barack Obama, cutting federal spending and encouraging free trade and energy independence as engines for domestic economic growth. More importantly, he and Sarah Palin actually have a record of taking on the vested interests and their own party (while working with Democrats) to make tough decisions. I have yet to be shown the same evidence of the junior Senator from Illinois.
Regrettably, the road kill of Obama’s reckless rhetoric and policies is not the rich taxpayer, but the entire American economy. The pain will be felt mostly by those who lose their jobs in the economic downturn and are the owners of 401ks and other savings who suffer at the stock market continues to decline. Barack Obama has not been held accountable for the obvious consequences of his tax and trade philosophy and policies. If elected, it will be all Americans who will suffer.
Breaking News! Palin was pranked by two comedians from Canada. She really thought she was talking to the President of France. She’s so inept the caller was darn suspicious by mentioning “joe the plumber”; I can see Belgium”; let’s go kill animals by target shooting; that his wife Carla Bruni was hot in bed; lisptick on a pig; didn’t even know Canada’s Prime Minister is?; – something is WRONG with this woman.
Pro McPalins’ – please defend her. It’s halloween.
#2 Susan – Obama is indeed a better choice than “that old man”
#3 Susan – Actually, those Ohio crowds was laughing at Aanold, he just didn’t know – he’s got 7 $billion deficit in California. Where did the 7 $billion went, he redistributed them to his croonies as part of his socialistic regime.
#4 Susan – Perhaps you should read more of the current events on hispanic issues. While I acknowledged McRage agreed with GWB’s Comprehensive Immigration Plan – most hard rightwingers are hostile to their plan, much to the dismay of the hispanic/latino communities nationwide. Sam Rodriguez, President of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership said this unkind attitudes towards them cause the majority of demograph to JOIN OBAMA.
#5 Salome – Aanold was an illegal immigrant at one point and was steroid user. He left Austria because of HUNGER not of Socialism.
#6 Salome – California turning RED? There’s not a whole lot of hillbellies, christian right ministers, KKK, the Order, Aryan Nation, Skinheads lurking in this land of Wild and Free. They’re in the deep south where Lindsey Graham and his cohorts congregate.
#7 Kumander Pipi – huwag ka nang mag-isip pa. Obama is the only choice at the moment. Yung sinister idea nina Bush/McShame na i-privatize yung social security is “one compelling reason” hindi matino and mga ito. The Democrats prevented this from going into effect.
#19 Hamilton – Comrade, so your standard of living has been better the last eight, and assume you will get better with McRage? You’re hallucinating, the country is in recession.
#20 Hamilton – comrade, what country are you from? Thursday is Trick or Treat night?
Ask your kids also why this America is in recession and pray hard you will not lose your job – well, you put the blame on Obama if he becomes president.
#21 Hamilton – comrade, God’s been with us the last eight years, we just need a new direction with a democrat in office. We don’t need two incoherent maverickies in charge.
#23 Hamilton – Why won’t you dig more as to where his contributions are coming from? I myself is excited to know!
#39 Salome – You’ve said in one of your posts, when Obama is elected “he will send money to his relatives in Kenya”; “he will send help to Kenya”. NOW, you’re again telling me otherwise.
#40 Salome – >What does he know?> He knows all the persons you outlined. He also knows convicted and imprisoned domestic terrorists J Gordon Liddy, a $1,000 contributor to McShame’s kitty fund and as McShame calls Liddy, an old chum.
He knows convicted Charles Keating. He knows Pat Robertson and John Hagee for their racists views.
He knew McShame gave $800k to Center for Palestinian Research and Studies which Khalidi was part of.
#41 Salome – Obama apparently was doing his civic duty by not harboring illegals. Guess what? maybe you have an “aunt” or “uncle” living as illegal in America but didn’t know it, please investigate and legalize them.
#46 Salome – I’ve been waiting for your responses to my questions about ACORN, Mark Jacoby, Rick Davis, Military Uniformed are overwhelmingly for McCain statements but you never got back at me. I took it as lies on your part.
#47 Hamilton – Jimmy wasn’t that smart as Obama. He went ballistic and ruled as far left as he could. Obama is so talented and can envision peoples miseries and their future.
#48 Hamilton – comrade, McRage’s pandora’s box is filled with Robertso, Hagee, convicted domestic terrorist Liddy, convicted keating, Rick Davis, and the list goes on too.
What red Flags? The Polls (if true), majority of americans are for Obama. Comrade, you’re not blind are you?
#49 Hamilton – As I’ve said, if Obama is elected – FOUR YEARS is enough measuring stick to assess his value to the public, Obama is indispensable.
#50 Hamilton – GoodLuck Comrade. I myself wish McShame well and I mean that as a pragmatic person.
#51 Hamilton – It would shock McCain more if Obama takes down Arizona.
This post is the hottest topic.More than 1,100 viewers already not even 24 hours since I posted it.Thank you all!
Commenters on both Obama and McCain are doing well on their preference. But just noticed that while McCain supporter are focused on issues and not naming names, pro-Obamans are focused on what the individual commenters are posting. To the bystanders like us, we could only surmise that pro-Obamans cannot take potshots on their idol in stride and taking it personally against those who posted their pro-McCain comments.
As in the Philippine elections, US is not precluded from having its problem. As one pundit posted, Tuesday night might be chaotic:
Elections are government undertakings, so they are not expected to be well run, and judging by the multiplying warnings that voting arrangements might buckle under the weight of predictably large turnouts, Election Day seems to have taken many state and local governments by surprise, yet again. Such dreary developments, anticipated with certainty, must be borne philosophically
Obama tells us he has good judgment but he sat under Jeremiah Wright teaching for 20 years. Now he is condemning Wright’s sermons. I wonder why now?
Obama said Jeremiah Wright led him to the Lord and discipled him. A disciple is one in training. Jesus told us in Matthew 28:19 – 20 ‘Go and make disciples of all nations.’ This means reproduce yourself. Teach people to think like you, walk like you; talk like you believe what you believe etc. The question I have is what did Jeremiah Wright teach him?
Would you support a White President who went to a church which has tenets that said they have a …
1. Commitment to the White Community
2. Commitment to the White Family
3. Adherence to the White Work Ethic
4. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the White Community.
5. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting White Institutions
6. Pledge allegiance to all White leadership who espouse and embrace the White Value System
7. Personal commitment to embracement of the White Value System.
Would you support a President who went to a church like that?
Just change the word from white to black and you have the tenets of Obama’s former church. If President Bush was a member of a church like this, he would be called a racist. Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton would have been marching outside.
This kind of church is a racist church. Obama did not wake up after 20 years and just discovered he went to a racist church. The church can’t be about race. Jesus did not come for any particular race. He came for the whole world.
A church can’t have a value system based on race. The churches value system has to be based on biblical mandate. It does not matter if it is a white church or a black church it’s still wrong. Anyone from either race that attends a church like this would never get my vote.
Obama’s former Pastor Jeremiah Wright is a disciple of liberal theologian James Cone, author of the 1970 book A Black Theology of Liberation. Cone once wrote: ‘Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him.
Cone is the man Obama’s mentor looks up to. Does Obama believe this?
So what does all this mean for the nation?
For all those voting for Obama can you really say; I am voting for Obama even though I know he will continue the genocidal practice of partial birth abortion. He might have to nominate three or four Supreme Court justices, and I am sure he will be nominating liberal judges who will be making laws that are against you. I also know he will continue to push for homosexual rights, even though you destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for this. I know I can look the other way because of the economy.
John McCain is such a gentleman he refused to make issue about Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
He should bring back Rev. Wright even if has vowed not to make an issue out of Rev. Wright’s extreme anti-American statements. But that should not stop independent expenditure and 527 groups from raising the issue.
A good advertisement would alternate footage of Wright saying “God damn America” and 9-11 was just the “chickens coming home to roost” with an announcer explaining the relationship between the two men. The announcer might remind voters that it was Rev. Wright who married Barack and Michelle Obama, and that Obama himself sat in the pews at Wright’s church for 20 years as sermons like these were being given. It should point out that Obama only distanced himself from Wright a month after his remarks scandalized all Americans and cost him his momentum in the polls.
Media is against McCain and McCain is likely fearful that the establishment media would condemn him further for running the ads. Their very effectiveness would assure that the liberal media would fall all over themselves to denounce the tactic. But independent groups who want to prevent a leftist takeover of the government should not let liberal organs dictate their campaign tactics or their message.
Here is another point for McCain which is not doing but should be done: Warn voters of impending socialism in America.
The recent bailout legislation puts the United States government inside the ownership, management and direction of many of our major companies and financial institutions. The bureaucrats have entered as firefighters, trying to extinguish the blazes that threaten to consume these companies. But once the flames are put out, will the firefighters go home, or will they set up shop and give the United States a socialist economy akin to that of Western European nations? Will the bureaucrats relinquish the power they are now being given in a time of crisis?
McCain needs to point out that bureaucrats never relinquish power unless they have to. He should say that with an Obama administration and a highly Democratic Congress, we could face a long and perhaps permanent period during which entrepreneurial, private sector capitalism disappears and loan applicants must win government approval for their financing.
Many people have become concerned with the growing power of foreign sovereign wealth funds in major American businesses. Will these funds use their influence and power to alter the financial policies and lending practices of America’s leading banks and investment houses? But now the danger comes not just from abroad but also from government intervention at home. The sovereign wealth fund that might be most influential in distorting our private capitalist system is the United States Treasury and the Federal Reserve Board.
Under conservative, pro-capitalist Republican management, we can, presumably, trust these institutions to exercise their power benignly and to turn control over to the private sector as soon as possible. We can count on them taking a hands-off policy toward the investment of the banks and financial firms in which they acquire an equity position. Except to control abuses like subprime mortgages and making marginal loans, we can expect that these federal institutions will act in our interest.
But if Obama’s appointments take over the Treasury and the Fed, can we be as sure? McCain should point out that it was political meddling by liberals that led Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to insure and thereby encourage subprime mortgage loans in the first place. Were it not for the pressure in the Clinton Administration to expand home ownership to poor people and minorities, Freddie and Fannie would not have relaxed their down payment policies and would not have been willing to guarantee mortgages without proof that the borrowers had sufficient income to repay the debts.
McCain needs to point out that it is precisely this sort of liberal pressure that led to the disaster; he should warn that the power the bailout legislation gives the next president is so potent that it could destroy our concept of a private economy.
If the Dow continues to terrify investors and distract voters from the election, it will continue to bolster Obama’s candidacy and his lead. But if there is some stability in the final days before the election, there is every chance that voters will take another look at Obama and decide that he is too risky.
By stressing the tax issue and the potential of an Obama regime to subvert our free enterprise system, McCain can harness the crisis and warn voters of the impact of a decision to elect the most radical candidate for president in our nation’s history
Sen. Joseph Lieberman was roundly criticized by Obama supporters when he endorsed John McCain when said in his speech this favorite line:
“Between one candidate and John McCain, who has always put the country first, worked across party lines to get things done, and one candidate who has not.”
In all, this is what Sen. Lieberman delivered in that speech which American voters should take into serious consideration:
“I think it’s 84 days from now that the people of America are going to choose their next president. And it’s a big choice, because we know these are tough times at home economically, and dangerous times in the world. And in my opinion, the choice could not be more clear; between one candidate, John McCain, who has experience and has been tested in war and tried in peace, and another candidate that has not. Between one candidate, John McCain, who has always put his country first, worked across party lines to get things done, and one candidate that has not. Between one candidate that’s a talker and one candidate who’s the leader America needs as our next president. You never know — we never know what crisis will occur in the four years of his watch; we’ve just seen over the last few days, as the Russians invaded a sovereign nation, Georgia. And watch the response of this man, John McCain, to that crisis: right, strong, clear, principled. The kind of president we need in the White House over the next four years, to protect our country, our security, and our freedom …”
It is understood that as the US economy becomes more and more global, some of the high-paying blue collar jobs are gone forever. But at least, John McCain has the guts to tell the truth. Obama, on the hand, makes promises about a rosy future without acknowledging the reality of job losses.
This is what John McCain said to workers in Michigan: “I’ve got to give you some straight talk. Some of the jobs that left the state of Michigan are not coming back. But I believe that we can develop a plan to take care of these workers who have lost their jobs my friends. We cannot abandon them. We cannot leave these great Americans behind.”
John McCain has tried to put the brakes on Fannie and Freddie twice, with no success. He saw what was coming, but the do-nothings in Congress and the former Dems from the government who ran Fannie and Freddie would have none of it. Put this economy in the hands of Obama, whose economics advisors are from Fannie and Freddie? Put this economy in the hands of a naive, arrogant, inexperienced, unqualified candidate? Put this economy and the rest of the problems facing us in the hands of someone who will never admit to a mistake? We need someone we can trust who will put Country First!
Country First?
JoeSeg – personally my own analogy about anyone’s party affiliation is this: if it has basis, truth and substance of what is being posted, then so be it. Speaking for myself only, I respond to nonsense or half-truths being expressed here. Just look at the above comments by Pro McPalins:
Ayers, Wright, Khalidi, Rezko, citizenship, ACORN.
I respond with J Gordon Liddy, Hagee/Robertson, Keating.
They keep bringing stuffs which should have been h2o under the bridge.
The notion Pro McPalin’s are dealing with the issues here are baseless based on their comments. Now, if we just let some of those lies lay still, what good are we as a people who embrace common sense. I only advocate fairness and equal rights.
Politics is not about “you throw bread at me and I’ll heave a pancake at you”. It’s pretty much eye for eye and Pro McPalin supporters should agree McRage campaign has more negative campaigns than Obama’s.
It’s so reprehensible to gush sentimentality about McCain’s stance to run a clean election at the onset then turns around and rage a personal attack on his opponent. That’s one thing an Independent mind like me come to question his motives.
The big difference between this site and Ellen: over at ET, 99 percent are anti-Arroyo – any pro-gluerilla will be swarmed just by saying “good things” regarding her administration. At least here, it’s sort of give and take.
And
I’ve seen Ellen T pareng Artsee on numerous occasions sa mga local Philippines TV, mapagkatiwalaan siyang tao.
Pag nagsasabi ng totoo ang kausap mo, there should be no issue. Kung shoplifter and isang tao, convicted and everything – may mga tao pa rin na ididipensa siya, na hindi siya ganoon. How often do we see these craps? Too often.
Si Reverend Wright palaging replay yung sermon about his tirades like “goddam america”. Of course when people see this kind of minister whacking the government, especially the whites and asians, first things they’ll say “this guy is nuts”, “this guy is lunatic”. What they never saw is John Hagee or Pat Robertson advocating their RACIST views.
Most of these black and white ministers never went to court simply for their abnormal outlook of life in general.
After 20 years Obama listened to Rev. Wright and I am pretty sure to him they were right..wrong speling nga lang..
Artsee: ang generous mo naman..pero ang sabi daw ni Arnold..I have not heard it though..kung ang ginastos daw ni Obama sa TV time of so many millions ay ibinigay niya sa mga nangangailangan..mas ok pa…agree ako dito after all didn’t he say…distribution of wealth? this would have been a great opportunity that he means what he said about the distribution…but..mabuti pa seguro sasama ako kay gloria at bakasakali ma auluyan din..
i want a US president who can maintain a good relationship with our country.
c obama eh medyo charismatic, actually hindi lang medyo, charismatic talaga xa and i really like his style at yung treatment niya.
ayan, opinyon ko lang naman…
pero kung manalo man c mc cain, wala ding problema. i think mas may wisdom siya.
;-)
Presidential polls in the US aren’t always the best basis when it comes to deciding who really IS the man. Mostly cold numbers, but reflectory.
But we can gauge it by ourselves and I guess, less than 50 hours until decision time. I’ll be with a few friends to the US for the voting duration, and maybe I’ll try to see what’s really cooking there.
Just wondering..With Obama will there be a Republic of Mindanao? kawawa naman kaming taga Panay..panay na lang magsacrificio at pobre..wala kaming magawa but antos ka lang my love.
This election has become about far more than John McCain vs. Barack Obama; it has become about whether the United States will remain the champion of freedom – economic and political – or whether we will join the queue of formerly great nations now struggling to pay for all the social welfare “benefits” their aging and lazy populations demand.
The financial crisis and looming recession, combined with President Bush’s low approval ratings, have set the stage for this election to be a pivot point in American history. If Obama is elected president and Democrats control large majorities in the House and Senate, the Obama/Pelosi/Reid triumvirate will move the country decisively in the direction of dying Europe – low productivity, high joblessness, low birth rates, high taxes and limp foreign policies.
McCain’s health care proposal would improve the world’s best health care delivery system. He proposes to reform the most distorting aspect of our current system (the tax break for employers) and give the tax break to individuals instead. It is McCain’s proposal, not Obama’s, that will give individuals the choice to stay with the plan they have or take the tax credit and shop around (in a market enlarged by permitting interstate insurance).
Obama’s plan, by contrast, is a key first step to achieving his oft-repeated preference for a single-payer system like Canada’s. By forcing employers to provide certain (as yet unspecified) benefits or pay a tax (“play or pay”), Obama’s plan will encourage employers to dump more and more people into a government-run health insurance system like Medicare.
McCain has said that his models for good judicial picks are John Roberts and Samuel Alito. Sen. Obama will pick Ralph Nader and Dennis Kucinich. (Just kidding, but his choices won’t be far off.)
McCain will employ diplomacy, not worship it. Obama is deluded about the power of “talks.” In 2007, he proposed, regarding Iran’s nuclear program: “If we are meeting with them, talking to them, and offering them both carrots and sticks, they are more likely to change their behavior.”
Obama is the most radical pro-abortion candidate ever to win a presidential nomination. Obama has promised to back the Freedom of Choice Act as his first presidential act, which would invalidate all restrictions on abortion at any stage of gestation, even in cases where babies are born alive after attempted abortions.
McCain may not be a Ph.D. economist, but he understands that raising taxes and adopting protectionist trade policies will deepen and prolong this recession. Nor would he permit Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to push through the “card check” law – a union-backed measure that would reverse 73 years of labor law in this country by scuttling the secret ballot in union elections. Even George McGovern has denounced this job-killing, freedom-smothering law that Obama supports. Greater unionization will translate into lost productivity, inflationary pressure and fewer jobs.
McCain believes that there is evil in the world and that it must be confronted. While Michelle Obama and many others seem to think that our enemies will purr like kittens once we inaugurate a black man with an Islamic middle name, that is dangerous fantasy.
McCain’s intimate familiarity with military matters also makes him less biddable by the armed services. He was able, when most others (most notably his opponent) were not, to see that a change of strategy in Iraq – not a retreat – was needed.
McCain is a passionate patriot who has always been, and will always be, guided by what he thinks is best for America. McCain believes in winning wars.
McCain is much, much funnier than Barack Obama. But then, almost everyone is.
The presidential candidates are capping a history-making campaign. There’s just one day left and there will be a new President of the United States of Anxiety and barring any unforeseen event, will be known tomorrow, the WHO.
To all bloggers on both sides, the independence of ideas were freely manifested here at CD and it’s heartwarming to note that all comments were done in good taste, nothing personal. Visitors and passerby must have noticed the delightful exchanges, hence the unprecedented number of hits registered for this topic alone.
But of course, maraming salamat kay Pareng Cocoy for allowing CD to be the venue of our varied comments without being censured. It in this context that we are all winners the way we conducted ourselves.
Before Christmas Day, I think CD will reach the plateau of 100,000 hits.
Namatay ang Lola ni Obama..nakakalungkot na hindi niya masagsihan ang victory and first in history..pero ang sabi nga ang lahat ng bagay ay may kapalit…I wonder kung ano ang kapalit para sa America sa pagmanalo ni Obama…
The state of Colorado has released its first set of early voting figures: and it’s bad news for Obama.Despite a massive push by Obama for early voting, including repetitious pleas during the Democrats’ Convention for Coloradoans to early vote, Democrats and Republicans are tied in terms of early voting so far.105,277 – Democrats = 49.92%105,615 – Republicans = 50.08% v338 = Difference between the two = 0.16%This means that even with a nonstop push by the Obama campaign for his followers to vote early, Republicans are still ahead in Colorado, if only slightly.Democrats vote early in higher numbers than Republicans in almost every state. And that’s not including the big persuasive push by Obama. Logic dictates with all the attention Obama’s put on early voting, that Democrats should be clobbering Republicans right now…if they vote early in higher numbers to begin with, and then Obama’s made a big push for early voting on top of that. That’s not happening.Republicans have a slight lead in early voting right now.Where is all the enthusiasm for Obama the media keeps braying about? And remember: not all of those Democrats are voting Obama. We know 30 Democrats right there in Chicago who voted early — and voted Republican for the first time in their lives. We bet there’s a higher percentage of Democrats voting Republican in Colorado this year than any year in the past. And that’s something we won’t know the full extent of until Election Day.
Colorado is a Blue State turning Red.
cocoy,
Isn’t it that CO is traditionally Republicans?
Magkaiba ang panlasa ko from my hubby when it comes to US politics , but he didn’t even interfere with my decision to leave the dems this election. Wala kaming pakialaman pagdating sa voting rights.
As previously said, my Hil vote was non-transferable to Barack. I voted this am for the person whom I think will be best to protect me as Rose said on our mother blog: “I was, and I saw the twin tower slowly going down na parang upos..and we did not know what hit the tower..what I thought at first was the planes were simply flying low to see the view..were you here when all you hear are sirens..were you hear when you call smell the stench of a burning flesh? could you blame me for being keeping a distance?..seguro kung narassn mo ang narasan namin during those days you will understand..ano ang kasalanan ng America?”
I was not physically there, but we’re very near the Dulles airport, saw and felt the commotion and fear.
For me and some of us, economy is not the priority…security is.
While waiting for the final outcome of the Vote USA (United States of Anxiety), let’s talk about keeping fit especially for bloggers like you and me. Physical exercise is good for all of us but we know that our body doesn’t want us to do too much and I’m glad to have stumbled the following program of strenuous activities but do not require physical exercise.
*Jumping to conclusions* Climbing the walls * Swallowing my pride* Passing the buck * Throwing my weight around * Dragging my heels* Wishing my luck* Making mountains out of molehills * Hitting the nail on the head * Wading through paperwork* Bending over backwards * Jumping on the bandwagon * Balancing the books * Running around in circles* Eating crow * Tooting my own horn* Climbing the ladder of success * Beating around the bush* Pulling out the stops* Adding fuel to the fire * Opening a can of worms * Putting my foot in my mouth * Starting the ball rolling * Going over the edge * Picking up the pieces*
Enjoy The Exercise!
joe,
Your Preng Magno is just around the corner.
it is amazing a lot of people still believe the crap the utra righties have been spreading:
1. Obama is not a Muslim (will not make mindanao a separate state – a joke?). He went to Indonesia briefly because of his stepfather. He practically grew up in Hawaii and was guided by his WHITE grandmother who passed away yesterday.
2. He is a socialist, a marxist – are we kidding here? Is it because he uttered the word ‘spreading the wealth’? is that it? All he was saying is, if your PERSONAL income is below $250,000 your taxes will be lower. Actually, he will just reverse Bush’s tax cut for the wealthy and put it back basically like those in the Clinton years.
3. He is palling around with terrorists – This is what Deborah Harrington (a conservative) the president of Woods foundation where Ayers and Obama served, said Ayers had been selected for the board because of his solid academic credentials and “passion for social justice.”
4. Only John McCain can protect America – John McCain is well respected for his service. We all admire him for that. But to me, his experience in war or the military is limited too. He was a fighter pilot. He was a prisoner of war for more than five years. He was not involved in ground war. War with the terrorists is a totally different warfare. You are against a faceless enemy. America have to fight it with intelligence and have to win the hearts and minds of the rest of the world. Diplomacy is the key. The Iraq war is a mistake. It made the Sheites stronger than the sunnis. There is a perceived calm in Iraq because the sunnis left. The sheites are allied with Iran. It made Iran stronger, made Al-queda re-group at the afghan-pakistan border. For all we know, Bin Laden could be in Pakistan right now. This is really a dangerous situation. We all know the Pakistanis have the nuclear capability.
Chi: taga Antique pala si McCain.
As we wait for the election returns to come in tonight, we’ll be spotlighting the political views of a series of local plumbers named Joe.
The original “Joe the Plumber” is intended to be a stand-in for the American Everyman. While he supported John McCain, other Joes the Plumber have different views. By checking in with these regular guys, we hope to learn something about the mood of the country during this historic moment.
The first Joe the Plumber is Joe Grammatico. He’s 31 years old, and works with his father at Sal’s Plumbing in Torrance. He said he’s not a very political person, and when I talked with him yesterday, he was still undecided.
“I don’t really trust either of them,” he said. “McCain’s age scares me a little bit. Obama seems fresh, but I think he could be manipulated.”
McCain’s age is a particular concern because Grammatico is no fan of his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin: “I think she doesn’t know what’s going on,” he said.
Grammatico said that during the last presidential debate, when “Joe the Plumber” became a star, he got a bunch of calls from his friends.
“They started saying the debate was all about you,” he said.
Since then, his customers have all been asking him about politics – a topic he prefers to avoid, not wanting to lose any business.
I interrupted Joe Moore, of Joe Moore Plumbing in Gardena, while he was in the middle of replacing a sink. He was happy to take a short break from that to share his views on the election.
Like the original Joe the Plumber, he will be supporting John McCain.
Moore, 52, said he is concerned about taxes going up under an Obama Administration. But he said he also been on the Internet and had come to believe that Obama was not born in Hawaii – as his birth certificate shows – but rather was born in Africa.
“If you look at the other networks, all they ever talk about is how good Obama is,” he said. “I watch Fox News so I see both sides of it.”
Moore said he was afraid that Obama would try to bankrupt coal producers, and said he was also concerned about abortion, which he believes leads to crime, corruption and deceit. Beyond that, he was worried that Obama would “cut and run” from Iraq.
“If we cut and run, we’re going to tell the entire world we’re just a bunch of doggone cowards,” he said. “We’re sending ourselves to Doomsday.”
Moore said that McCain and Palin are the right people to go to Washington to clean house.
“The Congress is basically like a huge sewer line that’s plugged up and is overflowing,” he said. “McCain and Palin are the plumbers. They’re gonna clear it out and make sure it runs smooth.”
DinaPinoy – your impression of McCain’s service is yours alone. Of course, anyone who did 20 years or more in the military especially during the vietnam is commendable. I will respect his military service ONLY if he wasn’t given a better treatment by his captors. And for him to stay in the service as long as he could despite his unift physical status and able to retire was due solely to his father’s influence. The only overriding merit and I can put a feather on the cap of the military’s selection board for not promoting him to Rear Admiral. It was the right thing to do, he was unfit all along and I don’t mean that in a derisive way.
I only feel the pain of those other soldiers who were in the same predicament as he was as POW, and after their release, most of them were discharged and unable to continue their service as they didn’t have any PULL.
All his rhetorics about “I know how to win a war”, “I was tested” etc, are bravo sierras. He was well sheltered at Hanoi Hilton, a comfort zone for him. A war hero, that was his platform when he first ran for congress. He got elected.
Yet he keeps peddling this bogus personality everytime he is up for reelection which is really antiquated.
trublue,
whatever. my point is that even if McCain was in the military, his involvement to execution and strategy of the war was limited. As I’ve said, he was not even involved in the ground. And he was, for the most part, a prisoner of war. I don’t want to go as far as the suggestion McCain broke down and collaborated with the vietnamese. So for more than 5 years he was in a cell unable to participate physically and hadn’t had the experience to engage the vietcongs.
as far as ‘joe the plumber’ is concerned, i was listening to rush limbaugh a while ago and a caller mentioned he is like joe the plumber. the caller said he is 26 years old and has a rental property. the caller idea is if Obama raises his taxes then he would have to raise the rent so ultimately the renters will be the losers. when limbaugh asked the caller how many rental properties he has, the caller said he has only a 3 unit apartment rented at $700/month each. SO just like joe the plummer the caller is not even earning more than $250,000.
of course limbaugh is ‘fair’ so he didn’t follow up how much the caller is making and how the caller would benefit if Obama’s tax plan is implemented.
I look at joe the plumber this way: he is currently earning less than $250,000 so he get a tax cut. Through the years because of the tax cuts and hard work he succeeds and eventually starts his own business. Under Obama’s plan, being a new business, he will get tax credit. In addition, everytime he hires someone, he gets additional tax credit. If his business earns more than $250,000, it means he is successful and should look back to the years he was given a chance as a middle class, working citizen.
Mc Cain take an early lead.He won Kentucky with 8 electoral vote.
