My topic is Job and education – you got a problem with that Renato? Unfortunately, the lack of Education in our society and in our country is not a laughing matter.
We are suffused with embarrassment in our country about the decline of Education and look for reasons in our government, our churches, our economists, our media. But among the most potent reasons must be the failure of many leaders to accept their role as educators. Philippine law provides free elementary and secondary schooling for all children, but offers little support for specialization beyond basic education. However,There were too many highly educated people chasing too few jobs. What went wrong Virginia?
Like the comment of Mr.Pacifico:
Filipinos are educated but difficult to learn.
350,000 graduates only 10% pass a simple analytical test at call centers. Call Centers!!!!! and only 10% pass simple analytical test!!! hesus maria josef tabanga saklulu. Ano naman ito. Bobo talaga tayo!!!!
How about this:
A Law graduate working as bank teller; a BS Chemistry graduate teaching P.E.; a physicist fresh from college selling toothpaste and other products of a multi-level marketing company; a mechanical engineer assembling electric fans in a factory; an electronics engineer soldering TV circuits for a Japanese TV company; a cum laude chemical engineering graduate titrating every day in a quality control laboratory for a food manufacturing factory. If a fresh BS Nursing graduate is lucky enough, She gets to teach Caregiving in a Nursing colleges to impart what she had studied for several years. If not, she would go abroad and work as PT (Punas Tae) depriving the country further of highly skilled nurses in our lacking manpower in medical care.
I think the problem, the universities and colleges in the Philippines are producing the wrong kind of skills for its labor market needs, which is hurting economic growth. Or are our country is really expanding economic growth at all to keep our skilled workers by not leaving abroad ?
There comes a time in everyone’s life when they should take a stand on something. Everyone should take a position on at least one important issue, whether it is a popular or unpopular stance. An issue that needs to be discussed more, in particular those professions that are nearing extinction in the manufacturing sector. This is why the story of Asiong Nakaasa, an ex-mill worker in Ortigas Pasig needs to be told. Asiong was working steadily at the job one day when his name was called over the plant’s loud speaker by a an accountant graduate.
“‘Mr.Asiong Nakaasa, please report to the personnel office immediately”‘ the beautiful, young and sexy office secretary said.
Asiong was not concerned; he figured that it was just like any other situation he’d dealt with at the plant, the personnel department probably wanted Asiong to train a new employee. Asiong had worked at the plant for thirty-five years and he was always the first guy they called to educate the rookies. Asiong casually made his way to the personnel office, however when Asiong got there the news he received was not anticipated.
“‘Hey Asiong, could you sit down for a minute?”‘ said Luis Palakpak, director of personnel.
“‘Sure Luis, what’s up Pare ?”‘
Luis began to tear up a little bit, he really has to constrain himself from all out balling, he has a real glum look on his face as he finally begins to answer Asiong question.
“‘Asiong, there’s no easy way to say this. We’ve known each other for a long time, but we’re going to have to let you go”‘
Asiong sits there stunned with nothing to say as the tears begin to flow, he tries to be professional despite the circumstances.
“‘How could this happen? I’ve been here for thirty!”‘
Carlos decided to sell this company to migrate to Australia with his whole family and I am going with him, said Luis.
Bossing got tired, a cop always walked in and asked for protection money. Bossing is always dumbfounded and did not know what to do. He certainly felt bad and besides he want to look upon the safety of his family and frightened all the time about the Kidnap for Ransom and the Akyat Bahay Gang.
