In this time of crisis America needs a president who will bring the nation together at a time of unprecedented challenges.
America need a president who can unite people from all backgrounds, regardless of race, creed or color, regardless of occupation, income and education, regardless of whether they live in red states or blue states.
America need a president who will restore the nation’s tattered image abroad and who will provide global leadership on a host of issues, including the fight against terrorism, the spread of nuclear weapons, the ravages of disease, and the desperate poverty that affects billions of people in developing nations. We need a president who will give us hope, We need a president who will enable us to withdraw from the disastrous war in Iraq in an honorable way.
America need a president who will give American’s hope, who will inspire the American people, especially young people and those who have given up on the system, to believe that we can make a difference by working together.
What America is looking for? Is America ready for a Black President or a first American female president?
Obama has won millions of votes and more states and more delegates than Hillary. Bill Clinton had claimed electing Obama was like “rolling a dice.” Since he didn’t make similar remarks about John Edwards, who was then still a candidate, the implication was that “Are you going to hand over the keys to the White House and the nation’s atomic arsenal to a Black man”
We can understand how the Clintons may have succumbed to the worse type of human instincts in their desperate quest for the White House; it’s much sadder when so-called Black leaders are recruited to join in such ugly misadventure
However Blacks. had mixed views, with some expressing fears about Obama’s safety; others believe the country is still 100 years away from a Black president;they also believes only a Black president can address woes such as the abysmal incarceration rate of Black men; and, some believe Hilary Clinton has a better chance of becoming the first female president before a Black occupies the White House.
They also believe that Barack Obama would be harmed if it appeared he had a chance of winning the presidency. White people are afraid of Black people having too much power and influence and they are not going to allow a Black man to obtain such an important position as presidency.
Black also don’t believe things have changed that much since 1800, in terms of whites’ attitude towards African Americans, and points to the fact that brilliant African Americans such as Martin Luther King, Jr., and Malcolm X, ended up being assassinated.
Hillary Clinton has a better chance of becoming the first woman president before Obama has of becoming the first Black president. Some Blacks also believe the race of the nation’s president isn’t that important, they believes all politicians are essentially the same, and that they all change their tune once elected to office. It is hard for them to trust the true intentions of the government no matter what color they are, They believe action speak louder than words, and so far they have not seen any politician live up to the actions behind their words. Besides, even if Obama were elected president, he would be brought down. His white counterparts will do everything in their power to set him up to fail—they would try to dig up anything negative in his history to try to undermine him and make others lose respect for him.
However some black believes that it could well take the election of a Black president before the country seriously addresses the inadequate and poor education of African Americans, which deprives Black men of opportunities to uplift their lives. There are just too many young Black males in prison and they hope that Obama would increase funding for programs for them to keep them out of a prospective Obama presidency. Prevention is better then cure!
On the other side,America got majority of conservative whites and some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate. But, Whoever threw the race card into this campaign needs to be horse whipped! Not forgetting that Senator Obama actually had two parents of which one was Caucasian. But that doesn’t matter when one slings mud to undermine the qualities of a opponent. Obama might not appeal to the old timer with the confederate flag flying out the barn window but he sure has captured the young voters, the college crowd and those so dissatisfied with the system who are waiting for space shuttles to mature so they can flea the Clinton’s, Bush’s and whatever is crawling under the rocks in form of future politicians.
